Internal Workflow Kanban for Approvals and Requests
Internal requests become frustrating when the requester cannot see who is helping and the approver cannot see what a delay will affect. A generic task card hides the amount, access scope, decision, and responsible person that actually move the request.
This board works like a request and decision inbox. Intake cards ask for an owner, approval cards prioritize the decision and consequence, fulfillment cards show the handoff, and completed cards read like an accountable receipt.

Make the decision larger than the metadata
Approval cards should say who must decide, by when, and what happens if they do not. Completed work should become calmer and preserve evidence rather than carrying the same urgency as intake.
Use categories without turning the board into a rainbow
Finance, compliance, procurement, people, and IT can use localized badges. The board stays neutral so attention, risk, and successful completion remain meaningful.
Keep governance in the systems that own it
The host application continues to own request records, policy, separation of duties, permissions, approvals, evidence, and persistence. The board provides a shared operational view over that governed data.
Evaluate with one real decision path
- Include monetary, access, vendor, people, and compliance requests.
- Keep decision, approver, deadline, and consequence visible without opening a card.
- Test an overloaded approval stage and a move into fulfillment.
- Verify permissions, audit records, and backend conflict handling.
