Product Delivery Kanban for Software Teams

Shipping gets difficult when discovery, design, engineering, and release decisions live in different tools. People lose the customer reason behind the work, handoffs become private conversations, and a busy column looks like progress even when the release is blocked.

This board keeps the question, release, owner, review gate, and next handoff together. Progress appears only for work that is actively being built; other stages show the decision that moves the work forward.

Keep customer context with the handoff

A useful delivery board explains why work exists, not only where it sits. Discovery cards prioritize the customer question, design cards name the artifact and reviewer, build cards show release scope and measurable progress, and review cards expose the decision required before release.

Use WIP to improve flow, not judge people

Column and swimlane limits should start a conversation about finishing work, missing decisions, or overloaded specialists. They should not become a score for individuals. RevoGrid Kanban lets the surrounding product decide whether a limit warns or blocks a move.

Keep system ownership clear

Your product remains the system of record for issues, permissions, validation, releases, and persistence. The board projects those records into a shared workflow and emits changes for your application to accept or reject.

Evaluate with one real release

  • Use representative titles, owners, handoffs, and release fields.
  • Check that all five stages remain readable at your common viewport.
  • Test an overloaded build lane and a blocked review decision.
  • Confirm keyboard movement, persistence conflicts, and permissions with your own integration.
